Chief Learning Officer Announcement:

LOA would like to thank Mr David Koch (USAF Col, ret) for his two years of service on the National Board rolling out the newly minted Chief Learning Officer (CLO) position. Under his tenure, David helped refine LOA University, started an Industry-LOA Chapter monthly Speaking Series and developed a LOA partnership with APICS (American Production and Inventory Control), in an effort to bring access to a highly credible professional certification opportunity to our members. We are so thankful for his dedication and commitment while also serving in senior civil service levels at the Defense Logistics Agency.

We welcome Col Dennis Dabney as our new CLO, a lifetime member of LOA who has served on the National Board as the Symposium Chair two times. Col Dabney is currently serving in OSD in the Maintenance Policy discipline. He brings a wealth of education and training with him as a career Aircraft Maintenance Officer and graduated Maintenance Group Commander.

We are so thankful for David’s leadership and selfless commitment to LOA and look forward to Dennis’ leadership and new ideas as we continue to develop and support LOA and its mighty Logisticians.

Website Evolution: www.atloa.membeesites.net

While most will perceive LOA’s new brand as a simple change it is has actually been a journey of innovation, member feedback, and the organization’s commitment to the development of our members. Over the past couple of years, LOA has taken a hard look at our business processes, balance sheet, and never ending ‘wish list’ of requirements. We have been able to scale back on those nice to haves that never delivered a return on investment, identified our core business areas, and invested our time, talents, and resources towards what makes LOA great, YOU!

Granted members will have to learn and experience our new website but with your feedback we will be able to tweak it so it is intuitive. We have decades of content to load back onto the site like all of the ERs and symposium/conference photos and we have decades of new content to come.

Exceptional Release Update

Lt Col Jim Dorn’s overall goal for the ER staff is to produce and constantly improve the journal. We want people to want to read it, not just thumb through it. We also want the journal to be relevant and make people think. In keeping with Jim’s “Paint the Wall” theme, the board put a long term solution in place so we can get the electronic version of the ER accessible to members on government computer systems. Yes, that mean you will be able to download the PDF versions directly from the LOA website! Understand we have years and years and years of ERs to get back online. LOA will continue to deliver the ER in an e-reader format but we plan to put every issue back in the shelf for our members.
