Representatives from US Space Command J4, local Logistics Readiness Squadrons, Space Systems Command, Combat Forces Command, US Space Force Space Delta 8, and the David Lyons Chapter of the Logistics Officer Association visited Astroscale U.S. on February 19, 2026, for a mission brief and facility tour that focused on commercial on-orbit servicing capabilities. The visit, sponsored by Space Systems Command’s Directorate of Installations, Logistics, and Product Support, highlighted how emerging commercial capabilities may provide information for future space logistics and sustainment efforts.

Astroscale U.S. has been selected by the USSF to perform the first-ever hydrazine refueling mission of a Space Force asset above Geostationary Orbit (GEO). The mission will utilize their Astroscale U.S. refueler spacecraft, dubbed ‘Provisioner™’, which will be delivered to the customer in 2026. This capability will enable spacecraft to reposition, extend mission duration, or recover from unplanned events, thereby significantly enhancing operational flexibility.

Provisioner went through successful testing at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center last summer for Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking (RPOD) technologies. This collaboration leveraged NASA’s facilities and expertise to accelerate the development of reliable docking for servicing missions.

In addition to its refueling mission, Astroscale U.S. was awarded a study by NASA to explore how serviceability can enhance the operational lifetime of the Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO).

These advancements signal a strategic shift from static, expendable space systems to dynamic, serviceable assets. By enabling on-orbit refueling and servicing, the Department of the Air Force can ensure more agile, resilient, and sustainable space operations, reinforcing the nation’s strategic advantage in orbit.
